All employees of SK E&C are paired with 500 children/adolescents from low-income families in Guro, Dongjak, Seongdong, Seongbuk and Jung-gu to continuously provide economic and moral support.
In addition to monthly economic aid, employees meet with their counterparts regularly and visit their homes to provide vitally needed home improvements. They also help their counterparts develop their natural talents to grow into good citizens and even provide medical expense support in case of an emergency.

In April 2006, the C/S HQ of the Construction & Housing Business Division of SK E&C held a ‘Charity Event for Child Heads of Households,’ and has since been engaged in home improvement activities targeting low-income families including beneficiaries of the monthly Hope Maker program. Each of the four Customer Centers (Seoul, Metropolitan, Central and Yeongnam Customer Center) is providing this service on an ongoing basis.
Every month each Customer Center selects target families after consulting with local community welfare centers and then members visit their houses to improve them by papering walls, laying new linoleum, tiling walls or whatever needs immediate improvement. And to help them with their livelihood, members also provide other helpful items such as bags of rice and gift certificates from local stores.
By October of 2011, the Customer Center members had renovated a total of 200 houses for which they received several appreciation plaques such as a commendation from the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

Members of the SK E&C Volunteer Corps regularly visit welfare organizations for the elderly, the handicapped and children every week to do volunteer work. They clean the rooms and bathrooms in the facilities, serve meals and trim the landscape, and on holidays and Christmas, they hold various events like cultural performances so that the children and senior citizens in the welfare facilities can have an enjoyable time.

The SK E&C Marathon Club holds a ‘happiness-sharing charity race’ twice a year. Each year the Marathon Club raises about KRW40 million through its fundraising activities. The amount that employees donate is matched by the company and the money is delivered to a worthy charity at the end of the year. So far the fund has been used to build the ‘SK E&C Nanum Forest’ in the Seoul Forest, to help the Child Fund with medical expenses, to buy daily necessities for welfare organizations such as the Mongolian School, and to buy winter clothing for disabled children.

The SK E&C Volunteer Corps joins hands with local volunteer service centers to engage in happy delivery activities, such as delivering lunches or coal briquettes to the less fortunate neighbors around the sites of SK E&C. If necessary, they clean the houses and do household chores for the beneficiaries to give them practical assistance.

The SK E&C Volunteer Corps consults with local district offices and local community volunteer service centers to provide educational services for children from low-income families around the sites of the company. We provide simple English education so that children in the low-income bracket can receive a wider education.
